Grange Farm, Weston-Super-Mare.
Completed 2004
Dairy farmers Chris and Simon Redding have imaginatively realised an ‘eco-office’ development utilising redundant farm-buildings. By reusing existing structures, both timber and steel, naturally ventilated and day lit offices are now completed.
The project consisting of both traditional ‘barn’ outbuildings and cow sheds have been transformed into low energy office accommodation. Using geothermal heat pumps, automated natural ventilation systems and ‘super’ levels of insulation using ModCell cladding, the scheme aims to be virtually carbon-neutral.
Using ‘farm’ standard bales (2.5x1x1m) the steel framed former cow sheds are clad in load bearing, lime rendered ModCell panels.
